[PART 3 : Biography] How to excel in English Writing when you are weak in Writing Skill - বাংলায়

BIOGRAPHY WRITING

Biography is one of the easiest form of writing. Best thing is points will be always provided. One has to link those together. As simple as that. Don't forget to check a cheat code at the end.

Let's do one exercise.

Write a short biography of Dr B.R. Ambedkar using the given hints.

Born – 1891, Mhow (Madhya Pradesh) - Faced caste discrimination - Studied in India, UK, and USA - Father of Indian Constitution - Fought for equality - Died – 1956

Dr B.R. Ambedkar

Dr B.R. Ambedkar was born in 1891, at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He faced caste discrimination. He studied in India, UK and USA. He was called Father of Indian Constitution. He fought for equality. He died in 1956.

[Check the underline words. Just connect the points by adding "He" before every sentence and verb, if necessary. Now we have 38 words. That's not enough if there are few points. So, we need to add a little more- around 45-50 words more. If you can not, leave it like this, but do not leave or skip the question. Instead leave 38 words using only "He" or "She" and sometimes adding verbs at the beginning of the sentences. You will get some marks. Every single mark counts. Isn't it? It there are a lot of points, only adding pronouns (He/She) and verb is enough.*

Let's do this again:

Dr B.R. Ambedkar

The creator of the Indian constitution Dr B.R. Ambedkar was born in 1891, at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He faced caste discrimination from very childhood. This notable person studied not only in India, but also in UK and USA. He was called Father of Indian Constitution because of his contribution in making Indian constitution. Indomitable Dr Ambedkar also fought for equality among everyone. This heroic soul passed away in 1956. Dr B.R. Ambedkar will forever alive in the heart of Indian people.

Done! Here you go 82 words ready!

This is the second simpler version of the same writing. The key things are:

1. Will be written in Past Tense. (অতীতকালে লিখতে হবে।)

2. Add Adjectives before his/her names. কিছু adjective ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। (Some adjectives are: renowned, distinguished, eminent, celebrated, well-known, prestigious, fearless, valiant, revolutionary, inspirational, determined, heroic, pioneering, thought-provoking, impactful, iconic, charismatic, influential etc.) Not all adjectives are suitable for everyone, keep that in mind.

3. Must give a Heading. Generally the name of the person will do. (আর Biography-তে title বা heading অবশ্যই দিতে হবে।)

4. Add at least one introductory sentence or phrase and one conclusionary sentence. (অন্তত একটা বাক্য ভূমিকা হিসেবে প্রথমে আর একটা বাক্য উপসংহার হিসেবে শেষে লিখতে হবে।)
[i.e. (name of the person) will forever alive in the heart of Indian people.] - as conclusion. **
[i.e (name of the person)'s name will be forever written in golden letter in the Indian History for his contribution.] as introduction **(check below)
5.This introductory sentence and conclusion can be Present or past tense.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An Advance version:
If you're confident in your writing skills and happen to know a lot about the person you're writing about, feel free to add more details—but only if you're sure about them. Remember, writing more with mistakes can leave a poor impression. Teachers understand that everyone's abilities are different, so it's better to write a little with accuracy than a lot with errors. With that in mind, let's begin!

Dr B R Ambedkar

The Visionary of Modern India, Dr B R Ambedkar was the the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Dr. Ambedkar was born in Madhya Pradesh's Mhou in 1891. belonged to a marginalized Dalit family. From a very young age, he faced the harsh realities of caste-based discrimination. With great determination, he finished his studies in India, UK and USA. Dr. Ambedkar embedded justice, liberty, and equality into the Indian framework. Ambedkar was a path breaker in the fight against untouchability and he worked tirelessly for equality among everyone. He was rightly called 'Father of Indian Constitution'. This great leader breathed his last in 1956. He has a revolutionary soul that inspire people till now. Indians heartily celebrates his birth as Ambedkar Jayanti to remember his teachings and encourage everyone to be change-makers.

132 words.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How's that? Do you like it? Wanna make another one? Let's try again. Before that, have a cheat code.

** If you don't know what to write at the first or as introduction, you can use this. And it goes with any kind of biography with person related to any field. Which is :---- যদি Introduction বা ভূমিকা হিসেবে কী লিখতে হবে জানা না থাকে, তাহলে এটি ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। এটি যেকোনো ব্যক্তির জীবনী তাই লেখা যায়।

The history of __________ (name of the field the person related to) will remain inconclusive of we fail to evaluate the life and achievements of _________________.(Name of the person)

Example: ~ If you are asked to write a biography on Khudiram Bose, the line will be :

The history of freedom struggle will remain inconclusive of we fail to evaluate the life and achievements of Khudiram Bose.
(যদি আমরা ক্ষুদিরাম বসুর জীবন ও কৃতিত্বকে যথাযথভাবে মূল্যায়ন করতে ব্যর্থ হই, তবে স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের ইতিহাস অসম্পূর্ণই থেকে যাবে।)

~ If it is Kazi Nazrul Islam, then :-

The history of literature will remain inconclusive of we fail to evaluate the life and achievements of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

~ If it is Sourav Ganguly, then :

The history of cricket will remain inconclusive of we fail to evaluate the life and achievements of Sourav Ganguly.

Easy, right?

At the end, as conclusion, add this : (শেষে উপসংহার-এ লেখা যেতে পারে):

His/Her death is a great void in the field of _________ which can never be fulfilled.

Example: His death is a great void in the field of freedom struggle which can never be fulfilled.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, another workout: (The easiest process including all the points mentioned above. Notice carefully) *

Write paragraph about A.P. J Abdul Kalam an eminent scientist and the 11th President of India. Follow the given points.

[PART 2 - Processing] How to excel in English Writing when you are weak in Writing Skill - বাংলায়

How to Improve Writing Skills in English?

Part 2 - Writing Process

অনেকেরই English Writing Skill করতে গেলে একটু সমস্যায় পড়তে হয়। অনেকে English-এ ভালো, বা English-এ কথা বলতে বা text/chat করতে ভালো পারে, কিন্তু বড়ো Writing ভেবে লিখতে অসুবিধা হয়। কিন্তু Writing Skill-এ অনেক নম্বর থাকে, তাই বাদ দিলে মুশকিলে পড়তে হবে। তো, কী করা যায় ? Here, Simple Tips to improve your written English.

Part 1 - এ general paragraph লেখা শিখেছি। এবার আসছি অন্যতম সহজ writing skill নিয়ে। Process Writing. এর থেকে সহজ আর কী বা হয়?

Process Writing Tutorial : How to Write a Process -

★ Process Writing এর প্রথমে লিখতে হয় Introduction. অর্থাৎ যেটা সম্পর্কে বলা হচ্ছে, তাই নিয়ে কয়েকটা বাক্য। তারপর গোটা paragraph-টা। আর সেটা লিখতে হয় passive voice-এ। আর কিচ্ছু না। তাই Process Writing ভীষণ সোজা ধরণের Writing. আর Process Writing-এ points অবশ্যই দেওয়া থাকবে।

★ Process Writing-এর introduction-এর পর sentence structure হয় : Linker + Subject (noun) + is (singular or uncountable এর ক্ষেত্রে) / are (plural-এর ক্ষেত্রে) + extra part.

Linker কী কী হয় ?

একদম শুরুতে হয় ; At First
আর শেষে - At Last অথবা Finally

মাঝে বসে - after that, after this, there after, next, later, now, then

★ মাঝের linker repeat করা যেতে পারে, কিন্তু পর পর যেন না হয়।

★ Subject বোঝার জন্য, point থেকে verb টাকে খুঁজে নিয়ে তাকে "কী" দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করব। যেটা পাওয়া যাবে সেটাই linker এর পরে বসবে।
Verb গুলো present tense -এ  (যেমন: mix, add, pour, make) দেওয়া থাকতে পারে।

★ Process Writing লিখতে দিলে চিনব কী ভাবে?
Question এ যদি লেখা তাকে - flow chart / how to prepare / preparation of ..... তাহলে সেটা Process Writing লিখতে বলেছে।

★ Process Writing এর introduction বা শুরুতে কী লিখব বুঝতে না পারলে, এই sentence টা ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে: -
  • This is something we rely on every single day, often without even realizing it.
  • It plays vital role in our everyday routines and overall well-being.
  • Few things are as essential to daily life as this.
  • Its significance in our day-to-day existence can't be overstated.

তাহলে একটা করে দেখা যাক :
