অনেকেরই English Writing Skill করতে গেলে একটু সমস্যায় পড়তে হয়। অনেকে English-এ ভালো, বা English-এ কথা বলতে বা text/chat করতে ভালো পারে, কিন্তু বড়ো Writing ভেবে লিখতে অসুবিধা হয়। কিন্তু Writing Skill-এ অনেক নম্বর থাকে, তাই বাদ দিলে মুশকিলে পড়তে হবে। তো, কী করা যায় ? Here, Simple Tips to improve your written English.

সেটাই বলব। 

সমস্যা গুলো কোথায় সেটা আগে দেখা যাক, তবে তো সেই সেই জায়গাগুলোয় সমাধান আনা যাবে। 

১) বইতে বা কোথাও যে examples গুলো করে দেওয়া থাকে তা পড়তে ইচ্ছা করে না, মুখস্ত তো নয়ই। 

২) বেঙ্গলি মিডিয়াম স্কুল English-এ দুর্বল রেখে দিয়েছে। 

৩) English Medium স্কুল হলেও School-এর সিলেবাস-এর বাইরে কিছু পড়া হয়না, চেষ্টা করা হয়না - কারণ সময় নেই। 

৪) স্কুলের টিচাররা ধরে করাতে পারছে না। সময় কম, অনেক students আর প্রত্যেকের সমস্যা আলাদা, আর টিচারদের দায় নেই। 

৫) ছোটবেলা থেকেই English-এ দুর্বল। 

৬) English Grammar-এর knowledge বা English ব্যাকরণে ভালো নয়। 

৭) অন্যমনস্ক তাই silly mistakes হয়, বা এমন ভুল হয় যেগুলো জানা জিনিস তবু ভুল হয়ে গেছে। 

৮) পড়তে ভালো লাগে না। 

৯) English-ই ভালো লাগে না। 

১০) লিখতে পারে, কিন্তু স্ট্যান্ডার্ড ভালো না, বা কম নম্বর ওঠে। 

তাই তো? ভুল বললাম? নাকি কিছু বাদ গেছে ?

যাহোক, এই গুলো নিয়েই শুরু করা যাক। 

এটা তাদের জন্যই লিখছি, যারা জানে যে তারা দুর্বল, আর তারা ভালো লিখতে চায়। এতে খারাপ ভাবার কিছু নেই, হতেই পারে কেউ ভালো লিখতে পারে না সে যে সেটা বুঝছে সেটাই বাহাদুরি, এবার শুধু চেষ্টাটা লাগবে, tricks আমি দিচ্ছি। 

আর যাদের অল্প-স্বল্প ভুল হয়, বা চাইছো আরো বেশি নম্বর কী করে তুলবে, তাদের জন্যও রয়েছে টিপস।

সব গুলো নিয়েই ডিটেলে আলোচনা করা যাক। 

Paragraph Writing একদম ছোট বয়স থেকেই করতে হয়। তখন মাত্র ১০-২০ lines এর প্যারাগ্রাফ স্কুল থেকে লিখিয়ে দিতো আর মায়েরা ধরে বেঁধে মুখস্ত করিয়ে দিত। এখন সেগুলো প্রাইভেট টিউটররা করে থাকে। কিন্তু একসময় শুরু হয় নিজেদের লেখা। যে অভ্যেসটা আগে ছিলই না, হটাৎ করে চলে আসে। তো সেটা কি করে সম্ভব ?

Paragraph Writing-এ অনেক সময় Points বা Hints দেওয়া থাকে, অনেক সময় থাকে না। যদি পয়েন্টস দেওয়া থাকে সেক্ষত্রে সেগুলোকে follow করতে হবে। কীরকম ?

এইরকম : -

Write a Paragraph on Durga puja festival.

Points: biggest festival of Hindus ----> Time: September-October ----------> days of Durga puja -------> Conclusion

সুবিধা : Points দেওয়া থাকলে সুবিধা হল খুব ভাবতে হয়না যে কী কী লিখব। 

অসুবিধা: আর অসুবিধা এই যে নিজের মতো সাজানো যাবে না, যেরকম পয়েন্টস দেওয়া আছে সেই অর্ডার ফলো করতে হবে, যে কোনটার পর কী লিখব। 

এবার আমার writing skill ভালো না, এটা বাদ, তাকাবোই বা প্রশ্নর দিকে, যাবে ১০ / ১৫/ ২০ marks যাক। না। 

একদমই না ছেড়ে কী লিখে marks ছিনিয়ে নেওয়া যায়, সেটা দেখা যাক। অনেক সময় পরীক্ষার বাকি উত্তরগুলোতে ভালো marks না উঠলে, বা একটুর জন্য পাস marks না এলে, টিচাররা এখানে marks দিয়ে দেয়। তাই একদমই ছাড়া যাবে না। বরং আমরা লিখতে পারি এইভাবে :

১ম পয়েন্ট, biggest festival of Hindus.

এটাকে নিয়ে একটা Sentence বানানো যাক। ইংলিশ-এ Sentence-এর format বা আকার হয় : Subject + Verb + Others (object)

তাহলে এই পয়েন্ট এ subject কী? Subject মানে যার সম্পর্কে লিখছি, আর সেটা হলো Durga Puja. Verb হল "is" বাকিটা হল points-এ যা দেওয়া আছে। 

তাহলে, Durga Puja is the biggest festival of Hindus. - দুর্গা পুজো হল হিন্দুদের সবথেকে বড় উৎসব। ('the' হল, কারণ Biggest যার মানে সব থেকে বড়, Adjective-এর superlative ফর্ম, তাই এর সামনে 'the' বসছে।)

২য় পয়েন্ট,  Time: September-October.

colon (:) এর আগের শব্দটা / word আমাদের বোঝার জন্য ওটা sentence-এ colon এর সাথে বসবে না। সেক্ষত্রে, একইভাবে সেন্টেন্স হবে :

Durga Puja is celebrated in September-October. - দুর্গা পুজো September-October মাসে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, বা পালন করা হয়। Subject - আবারও Durga Puja যেটা প্রথমে বসেছে sentence-এর।

৩য় পয়েন্ট, days of Durga puja.

এটা একটু খাটনির। এখানে নিজে থেকে লিখতে হবে। এগুলো তো সবাই জানে, কিন্তু কী ভাবে লিখবে? 

অবশ্যই ছোট ছোট সোজা সহজ sentence-এ যাতে করে ভুল কম হয়। বড় লম্বা sentence লেখলে বেশি নম্বর হয় তা নয়, ঠিক লিখলে নম্বর হয়। আমরাদের একটা অভ্যেস আছে, আমরা যখন বাংলায় ভেবে English-এ sentence বানাতে যাই, আমরা Translate বা অনুবাদ করার চেষ্টা করি word-by-word . এটা ভীষণ বড় ভুল। কারণ বাংলা বাক্য আর English Sentence এর প্যাটার্ন আলাদা। যেমন, বাংলায় শেষে ক্রিয়া বা Verb বসে, আর English-এ দ্বিতীয় স্থানে। এরকম আরও আছে। তাই বাংলায় ভেবে নেওয়া ভালো কিন্তু অনুবাদ নয়। এতে সহজ জিনিস কঠিন হয়, আর ভুল হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেড়ে যায়। 

এই পয়েন্ট টা বাংলায় ভেবে নেওয়া যাক: -

বাঙালিদের দুর্গা পুজো ৫ দিন হয়, ষষ্টি, সপ্তমী, অষ্টমী, নবমী, দশমী। এটা বলা হয়ে থাকে যে দেবী দুর্গা এই সময় তার বাপের বাড়ি বেড়াতে আসে। চার দিন মহা সমারোহে পুজো হওয়ার পর দশমীর দিন হয় দেবীর ভাসান। এই দিন দুর্গা মূর্তিকে কাছাকাছি নদীতে ভাসান দেওয়া হয়। 

এগুলো আমরা সবাই জানি।এবার এগুলোকে English-এ লেখা যাক। দুটো জিনিস মনে রাখবো : ওয়ার্ড গুলোর English name আগে ভেবে নেব, আর বাক্যটা হবে Subject + Verb + Object/Extra - এই ফরম্যাট-এ। 

তাহলে, বাংলার প্রথম বাক্য অনুযায়ী Subject 'বাঙালিদের দুর্গা পুজো'. 

Bengali's Durga Puja is celebrated for 5 days. (suitable verb- is celebrated /পালন করা হয় ) 

English to Bengali Translation - বাঙালিদের দুর্গা পুজো পালন করা হয় ৫ দিন ধরে। 

উচ্চারণ: বেঙ্গলিস দুর্গা পুজা ইস সেলিব্রেটেড ফর ফাইভ ডেস.

Full Sentence: Bengali's Durga Puja stays for 5 days, Sashthi, Saptami, Astami, Navami and Dasami. 

দ্বিতীয় বাক্য,

It is believed that Goddess Durga returns to her father’s home during this time. 

English to Bengali Translation- এটা বিশ্বাস করা হয়, দেবী দুর্গা ফিরে আসে তার বাপের বাড়িতে এই সময়ে। (/ বিশ্বাস করা হয় যে এই সময়ে দেবী দুর্গা তার বাবার বাড়িতে ফিরে আসেন।)

উচ্চারণ: ইট ইস বিলিভ্ড দ্যাট গডেস দুর্গা রিটার্নস টু হার ফাদার্স হোম দিউরিং ডিস্ টাইম। 

তৃতীয় বাক্য : চার দিন মহা সমারোহে পুজো হওয়ার পর দশমীর দিন হয় দেবীর ভাসান।

ভাসান ইংলিশ :  immersion 

মহা সমারোহে ইংলিশ :  Grand Celebration 

Final Sentence: After four days of grand celebration, on Dasami, immersion of Goddess Durga takes place.

[take place - মানে ঘটা, এটা একটা phrasal ভার্ব। 's' হল কারণ present tense এ subject third person singular number]

উচ্চারণ: আফটার ফোর ডেস অফ গ্রান্ড সেলিব্রেশন, অন দশমী, ইমারশান অফ গডেস দুর্গা টেক্স প্লেস। 

পরের বাক্য : এই দিন দুর্গা মূর্তিকে কাছাকাছি নদীতে ভাসান দেওয়া হয়।

পুরো পয়েন্টটা দাঁড়াল -

After four days of grand celebration, on Dasami, immersion of Goddess Durga takes place. On this day, idols are carried to local rivers for immersion. 

কম হলেও খারাপ না, তাই না? একদম ০ তো আসবে না ! সব থেকে সহজ এর থেকে কম আর কী বা হয় !

এরপর আসে Conclusion, যেটার মানে হল উপসংহার। 

Conclusion (কনক্লুশন) বা উপসংহার শেষেই হয়, আর প্রথমে হয় Introduction (ইন্ট্রোডাকশন) বা সূচনা। এগুলো বলা থাকে বা না থাকে লিখতে হয়। এখানে পুরোটাই নিজের ধারণা থেকে লিখতে হয়। সেই topic নিয়ে তুমি কী জানো বা বোঝো বা ভাবো। না জানলে বা না ভাবলেও জোর করে ভাবতে হবে, কোন উপায় নেই। 

এখানেও একটা দু' লাইনের Conclusion লিখে ফেলা যাক !
